Eleven families joined the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup on March 12th for a walk at the Cathance River Nature Preserve.
“We read a book that helped us to be aware of using our senses to find the signs of spring. Spring in Maine is filled with cooler mornings that turn into warm, sunny afternoons, mud, slush and even some ice. We slip-slided our way through the trails at Cathance River Nature Preserve and ended at the vernal pool where we made magical wands to help welcome in Spring.”
Thank you to the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup and Jamie Pacheco, BTLT’s program manager, for making this adventure possible!
The Forest Playgroup is parent-facilitated program that aims to provide a space for like-aged children to explore, learn and interact outside. Integrating principles from child-led educational models, our program has activities to support our children’s natural curiosity and developmental learning. With a holistic, family-focus, we are working to cultivate a positive, active and inspiring culture for parents and fill an important niche within our community. The Southern Midcoast Branch is the 4th Forest Playgroup branch in Maine alone offering free weekly outdoor adventures every Thursday morning for young children and their families.
