For many, Thanksgiving is a day to gather with loved ones, enjoy delicious food, and practice gratitude. And we hope you do all of these things! However, we also encourage you to:
- Learn and tell the real story of Thanksgiving. Some youth-friendly book options include ‘Keepunumuk Weeâchumun’s Thanksgiving Story‘ by Danielle Greendeer, Anthony Perry, and Alexis Bunten and ‘If You Lived During the Plimoth Thanksgiving’ by Chris Newell.
- Serve locally sourced food.
- Try to widen your circle a bit. Ask someone outside your usual group of friends and family what Thanksgiving means to them or invite them to join you at the table. Regardless of where we or our families come from, we all have our own relationship with this day.
