BTLT’s summer programming at Perryman Village is off to a strong start despite the rainy spring weather.
The Perryman Kids Garden is filled with tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, broccoli, squash, and lots of herbs. Last week, youth gardeners scavenged through buckets of composting material to harvest worms for their raised beds. We explored worm anatomy and decomposition, and compared compost to potting soil and regular topsoil.
During a neighborhood block party, a BTLT educator shared a collection of specimens from the local landscape. Through hands-on exploration of skulls, fossils, seeds, and more, visitors learned about local flora and fauna. Maps of BTLT properties and the Brunswick Outdoors map were given out to highlight local outdoor spaces for exploring!
