The Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup had a wonderful time exploring BTLT’s Woodward Cove on December 12.  Seven parents and eleven children gathered in the crisp December air for a book about animals in the Winter and hiked along the water.  With muddy boots and shouts of joy, the children climbed massive root balls and adventured down the trunks of fallen trees. We collected frozen apples, pine cones, and examined our own tracks in the dusting of snow. Definitely the perfect trail for a morning adventure! Thank you to BTLT for connecting us to this lovely property!
The Forest Playgroup is parent-facilitated program that aims to provide a space for like-aged children to explore, learn and interact outside. Integrating principles from child-led educational models, our program has activities to support our children’s natural curiosity and developmental learning. With a holistic, family-focus, we are working to cultivate a positive, active and inspiring culture for parents and fill an important niche within our community. The Southern Midcoast Branch is the 4th Forest Playgroup branch in Maine alone offering free weekly outdoor adventures every Thursday morning for young children and their families.
