Perryman Programming Update for July 7 -13
This week, BTLT lead a field trip to the Tom Settlemire Community Garden for a group from Perryman Village. The garden is beautiful and beds are filled with lots of life! We read a story called Tops and Bottoms and thought about what parts of a plant are food before doing a garden scavenger hunt. We found bees pollinating blossoms and spotted lots of potato bugs and their larvae. We harvested (and enjoyed!) strawberries, snap peas, radishes, and carrots. Yum!
Then on Thursday, BTLT joined ArtVan to make bug homes at Perryman Village! The creations used recycled and/or natural materials and invite helpful insects and arachnids to reside in or near the village’s gardens. Afterward, we added a few more seedlings to the children’s garden, which has become both a site for growing food and a place for creative play.
