#GivingTuesday is November 28, and we are happy to announce that all of the funds we raise will benefit educational programming at the Tom Settlemire Community Garden! Click to learn more.

The Settlemire family is pleased to offer a challenge from the Marilyn Settlemire Fund:

We will match the first $3,000 raised by the community on #GivingTuesday.

Marilyn loved gardening and spent her career teaching young people. We hope the community will respond so we can make this great project happen in 2018.

Marilyn Settlemire was a pre-school teacher for over 20 years. She felt every student was a precious gift and she loved seeing each grow and learn in his or her own way. She loved nothing more than to have the kids come to our farm so she could share the magic of planting a seed to see a plant spring to life. Starting pumpkin seeds in class, bringing them to the farm to transplant, inviting the kids to come visit during the summer so they could scratch their name in a growing pumpkin, these were some of the special ways she brought together her love for the students and her love of the garden. She would be thrilled to be part of the Land Trust’s effort to connect Coffin Elementary Students with the community garden.

The wonder of a sprouting seed, and the sights, smells, and tastes of a garden are things every student should have in their life.
