The Winter Gardening Workshops are a wonderful opportunity to learn from master gardeners.
The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust’s Tom Settlemire Community Garden provides practical lectures and hands-on training. Gardeners of all levels can improve their skills.
The workshops focus on organic gardening methods and provide information about topics such as choosing plant varieties, starting seedlings, timing of planting, soil enrichment and mulching, gardening in small spaces, and controlling common pests and disease.
Workshops are held multiple Sundays from January – March each year, from 2:00-3:30pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

From repetitive work to arthritis and aging, gardening can be hard on your body. This presentation will show small changes you can make in your routine to help you garden while avoiding joint, muscle and back pain.
With 40 years of pruning experience, Tim will explain the importance of allowing sunlight to penetrate the tree. Careful pruning controls growth, removes dead or diseased wood, and leads to improves longevity and productivity. Tim will provide us with a hands-on workshop using branches and a misshapen fruit tree in a Christmas tree stand!
