Nine families joined the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup on a brisk January morning at Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust’s Neptune Woods. They gathered on a snow mound to read the story, “Outside,” and then set off on a walk through the snowy trail. They got to run around and warm up on their stroll and then stopped and sat in a beautiful, sunny patch to paint the snow. When they were finished, there were splashes of color made by lots of happy artists!
Thank you to the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup and Jamie Pacheco, BTLT’s program manager, for making this adventure possible!
The Forest Playgroup is parent-facilitated program that aims to provide a space for like-aged children to explore, learn and interact outside. Integrating principles from child-led educational models, our program has activities to support our children’s natural curiosity and developmental learning. With a holistic, family-focus, we are working to cultivate a positive, active and inspiring culture for parents and fill an important niche within our community. The Southern Midcoast Branch is the 4th Forest Playgroup branch in Maine alone offering free weekly outdoor adventures every Thursday morning for young children and their families.
