FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust Announces Executive Director Transition
Brunswick, ME – July 9, 2025 – The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust (BTLT) announces that Steve Walker has resigned from his role as Executive Director, effective July 3rd. While stepping away from day-to-day leadership, Steve will continue to support the Land Trust through his engagement in several projects, specifically those related to land conservation and community partnerships.
This planned and meaningful transition comes at a time of strength for the organization. Kristi Hatrick, the Land Trust’s Director of Development and Engagement for the past six years, has assumed the role of Acting Executive Director. She will work closely with the senior leadership team and board to ensure the Land Trust remains on course with its strategic goals and commitments.
“We are deeply grateful to Steve for his leadership and the momentum he brought to BTLT over the past 18 months,” said Rol Fessenden, Board President of BTLT. “His thoughtful stewardship helped lay the groundwork for exciting projects and strengthened our connections across the community.”
Under Steve’s leadership, BTLT advanced numerous key initiatives related to land conservation, organizational sustainability and fiscal management, and community engagement. His work greatly supported the acquisition of Dionne Farm, and continued enhancement of the Land Trust’s ongoing programs and partnerships.
Looking ahead, BTLT remains passionately committed to its mission of conserving vital natural areas, supporting a vibrant local food system, and fostering connections between people and the natural world. With an experienced staff, an engaged board, and a clear strategic plan, the organization is well positioned for a strong and steady future.
