Chase Reserve Walk
July 20, 2022
4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Join Wayne Whitney for a guided tour of Chase Preserve focusing on the stewardship management of the property, and the work of BTLT. Chase Reserve is a 194-acre easement property on Bunganuc Road in Brunswick. Protected in 2011, the property has extensive shore frontage on ecologically significant Maquoit Bay, including valuable intertidal land. Part of the largest unfragmented forest block along the coast in Cumberland County, Chase Reserve’s diverse mix of managed forest, late successional white pine and hemlock stands, and vernal pools make it a great place to see wildlife. The property abuts a Freeport Conservation Trust property, for a total of almost 5 miles of trails.
Wayne Whitney has been a BTLT member for 33 years and an active volunteer for 9 years. His volunteer work primarily focus on trail management. Wayne is a retired attorney, 10th generation Mainer, and has lived in Brunswick for 37 years. He enjoys the outdoors, hiking, biking, and X-country skiing.
The walk should take 1hr-1.5hrs. We suggest wearing sturdy shoes and bringing water, sunscreen and a hat. Chase Reserve has limited parking, so please carpool if you are attending the walk with friends or family.
This event is free but registration is required!
The BTLT Stewardship Tour Series seeks to introduce the community to land conservation, stewardship, and history by offering guided walks with the Land Trust’s incredible Stewardship Team!
