Join Jeff Burchstead of Buckwheat Blossom Farm for a demonstration on hand (non electric) shearing sheep. Shearing is an integral step in collecting fiber for yarn, and other products made by local fiber artists and makers.
Jeff offers professional shearing services throughout Maine, in addition to managing his own sheep operation alongside side his wife, Amy. Jeff and Amy Burchstead own and operate Buckwheat Blossom Farm in Wiscasset, a small, horse-powered, organic farm. They raise sheep offering fiber and meat products, grow vegetables and manage a woodlot where they harvest firewood.
This event will be taking place during the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust Saturday Farmers’ Market at Crystal Spring Farm, if the weather is agreeable.
