There are so many health benefits to being outdoors in nature! Join Queerly ME, in collaboration with Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, for LGBTQ+ beginner level outdoor yoga. This workshop will be led by Lucas Suarez.
Staring off with inspiration from his mother during her daily morning yoga, Lucas Suarez (He/They) became interested in the practice. Lucas now has over 13 years of experience in personal practice. He has completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2020. They supplemented their knowledge with classes such as Dismantling Racism with Michelle Cassandra Johnson and Therapy for the People’s Introduction to Mindful Meditation Workshop with Jacob Krueger. Lucas strive to create an open and accessible environment for others who practice yoga, focusing on the needs of students ranging on all levels.
To celebrate Pride Month this year, we’re teaming up with our friends at Queerly ME to host a four-part series of Queer and LGBTQ+ outdoor events!
Queerly ME is a Queer Centered LGBTQ+ start-up non-profit dedicated to Queer Visibility, Accessibility, and Community Connection across Maine. Established 2020, Queerly ME intends to create spaces online and offline where LGBTQ+ folks can gather and connect in safe, healing social environments. Follow them on Instagram @_queerlyme or visit their website www.queerlyme.org.
The intention of this space is to acknowledge Queerness and create a safe space to exist as Queer – anyone who supports Queerness as allies or LGBTQIA+ is also welcome. Queerly ME defines Queerness as “fluidity in one’s gender or sexuality outside of a more binary LGBT+ identity. A Queer person can identify as only Queer or choose to define themself as both Queer and other identities within the LGBTQ+ community.”
