February 19, 2019
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join our partner organization, the Cathance River Education Alliance (CREA), for a family friendly snowshoe & ski event under the glowing full snow moon! All ages and ability levels are welcome. Registration required.
“Traditionally, the Moon we see in February is called the Snow Moon because usually the heaviest snows fall in February. This name dates back to the Native Americans during Colonial times when the Moons were a way of tracking the seasons. And the Native Americans were right. On average, February is the USA’s snowiest month, according to data from the National Weather Service.” – Farmers Almanac
The group will meet at the Highland Green Golf Club parking area just outside of The Duck Pub in the Highland Green community.
Snowshoes will be available on a first come first serve basis, weather permitting.
The group will leave the parking area and set off for the trails around the Highland Green Golf Club. We’ll wind through the open fields and view the glowing full snow moon as we look for animal tracks under the moon-lit sky and listening to the crunch of snow under our boots, skis and snowshoes.
After the hike everyone is welcome to pop into The Duck Pub at the parking area for hot chocolate and snacks.
Please Bring: Headlamps or flashlight for each participant attending. At this time CREA only has adult snowshoes available, children are welcome to attend and wear their own snowshoes or hike in boots. Dress Warmly!
This event is FREE and open to CREA Members and the Community.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT – please email email@example.com to register.
Hosts: Jenny & Rob Mueller
