Awaken your senses with a slow, mindful walk amidst the woods and waters of Cathance River Nature Preserve, on Sunday, September 13th, from 10am-noon!
This gentle, guided experience offers an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with nature and with oneself, benefiting from the healing qualities of time spent in nature.
The walk will be guided by Phoebe Doehring, a leader certified through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.
Participants can expect a slow, relaxed walk on uneven terrain with frequent stops. No prior experience is necessary. Adults and teens 16+ are welcome. The walk will include a series of short, simple invitations designed to bring you into the present and away from the demands of everyday life, awakening the senses and calming the mind. There is no right or wrong way to forest bathe – all forms of participation and sharing are welcome, including silence.
Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. You will park in the parking area, but then walk down to the Ecology Center building to meet the group and begin your walk together.
Space is limited to only 8 participants! FREE, but registration is required.

**If you have never been to the Ecology Center at the Cathance River Nature Preserve, please read these helpful details to guide you to the correct location: The nature preserve and parking area is located along Evergreen Circle in Topsham, Maine, which is inside the Highland Green community. Once you have entered Highland Green, stay straight for 1.5 miles. You will pass the golf club on your left and go past many houses. After about a mile, you will go past Junco Drive on your left, and that is your cue that the parking area for the Ecology Center and hiking is just ahead, on the left. There is a large kiosk and welcome sign with a small parking area containing about 8-10 parking spaces. Please park in the designated spaces. The Ecology Center is not visible from the parking area; it is a 2-3 minutes walk. (Do not drive down the dirt road called Rensenbrink Way – there is no parking at the Ecology Center.) After parking, walk down the stone steps near the kiosk, and head right on the dirt access road (Rensenbrink Way) to reach the Ecology Center (approximately 2-3 minute walk).
