The East Coast River Relay presents a series of organized walks, runs, bike rides, and paddles along the 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway from Maine to Florida from August 24 through October 30, 2017.
On Monday, August 28 you can join the Greenway Alliance along with local partners Merrymeeting Wheelers, Bicycle Coalition of Maine, and Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust for a paddle on the Adroscoggin with local historian Dana Cary. Learn more of the cultural and conservation history of this important Maine river.
The nonprofit East Coast Greenway Alliance leads the development of the 3,000-mile multi-use, non-motorized corridor connecting communities from Maine to Florida. The Greenway promotes healthy, active living; a cleaner environment and ecotourism; and local business development.
They are holding the River Relay to celebrate their 25th anniversary and to honor the many waterways that people can access along the Greenway. Through community participation in local events, they seek to raise awareness of this linear park and what it means for the 60 million people living along its corridor. Relay events will range from organized bike rides, runs, and walks to educational events — such as classes of schoolchildren testing water quality. River clean-ups and trail maintenance days, local festivals, and other events celebrating local culture and environmental awareness will also be part of the relay. Come join us!
