Crystal Spring Farm on Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick, was acquired by the Land Trust in stages starting in the mid-1990s. It reflects many core aspects of the Land Trust’s mission including conserving land while also promoting local agriculture and supporting diverse community needs. Located only 1.5 miles from busy downtown Brunswick, the property is a very visible working farm valued by the community for its many resources and the important sense of place that it provides the town.
The farm is home to rare habitat, protects groundwater in a significant aquifer and waters flowing into Maquoit Bay, and is home to a working organic farm.
Join us on September 15 at Crystal Spring Farm to learn about how the farm operates and just how food gets from the farm to your fork. The tour will be led by Seth Kroeck, the farm manager at Crystal Spring Farm. We’ll start at the farmstead and then move on to the field to cover all different phases of production, grading, packaging, and cold storage of root crops.
Tour participants need to be able to walk about a half mile to join for the field section of the tour; if unable to walk that distance, participants are welcome to depart after the farmstead portion.
Tour will meet at the farmstead. Please park in the Farmers’ Market parking area.
