Harnessing the Power of Storytelling & Story Listening

Harnessing the Power of Storytelling & Story Listening
Join us on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 6:30-7:30pm, for this year's kickoff presentation of our monthly speaker series at the Topsham Public Library!
We will hear from Holly Parker, Director of the Schiller Coastal Studies Center at Bowdoin, to learn about the marine research and education programs at the Center, as well as how her team is working to build meaningful relationships within our community that work toward inclusive and just solutions for the future of our community and environment.
Come discover how storytelling and attentive story listening can connect communities and inspire action toward sustainable solutions. Best for adults and teens 16+.
Holly has served as director of Bowdoin College’s Schiller Coastal Studies Center since 2022, where she leads programs that connect marine science with the wider community and with partners working on sustainability challenges around the world. She is inspired by her years in the maritime industry and a lifetime spent on and near the ocean. With 25 years in education she remains committed to fostering a sustainability-literate, engaged citizenry.
Topsham Public Library offers plenty of convenient parking, with an accessible entrance and event room. We hope you will join us! Registration is helpful so that we can plan accordingly.

This talk is part of our Speaker Series meant to engage and educate the community about the natural world where we live. These talks encourage participants to better understand our connection to the land and the place we call home. We are excited to host these talks in collaboration with the Topsham Public Library. Thank you to Kennebec Savings Bank for sponsoring this event, and the entire fall speaker series!
