Dionne Farm Update: Building a More Resilient Future

Just one year ago, we shared some big news: thanks to the generosity of a local resident, Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust received the rare opportunity to secure Dionne Farm, a beautiful and historic property at 262 Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick. Since then, we’ve been hard at work—not just fundraising to meet our commitments but thoughtfully envisioning what this extraordinary place can become for our community. 

We are pleased to share that we have surpassed $1 million in contributions—halfway toward the $2 million purchase price. This milestone is a powerful reminder of the belief our supporters have in the future we’re building together. Thank you for being part of it.  

But Dionne Farm is more than a new home base—it’s a critical part of our response to today’s challenges in which we feel greater human connection to each other and the land can alleviate. While we envision Dionne Farm as an embodiment of our mission and values, more importantly we see it deepening our connections to our community which have been cultivated over the 40 years of our work. 

Over the past year, we’ve brought together a dedicated team of board members, staff, community partners, and design professionals—including structural and landscape architects—to explore what this space can truly offer. The result is a growing vision shaped by collaboration, community input, and our core values. 

Imagine this: 

  • A regional hub for conservation and connection; 
  • A welcoming space for community events, workshops, and hands-on education; 
  • A revitalized home for our beloved Farmers Market, supporting local farmers, makers, and bakers; 
  • Improved trails and outdoor gathering spaces that connect people to nature and each other and; 
  • Historic buildings sustainably repurposed to serve present and future needs. 

With Dionne Farm as our headquarters, BTLT will be better equipped than ever to steward the lands we already protect, conserve more climate-critical landscapes, and create opportunities for people of all ages to connect with and care for the natural world. It’s a space where we will support local food, restore habitat, educate future stewards, and foster the relationships and resilience our community needs to thrive. 

This is not just a new chapter; it’s a transformation that expands our reach, strengthens our roots, and deepens our impact for generations to come. 

We’re moving forward with care and intention—ensuring every decision reflects our mission and the needs of a changing world.
