The Muddy River property is a 12-acre fee property owned by the Land Trust located on the Muddy River in Topsham. It includes about 10 acres of freshwater tidal wetlands and a small area of upland. The property is part of a extensive wetland complex that surrounds the river and provides excellent habitat for birds, waterfowl, intertidal species, and other wildlife.  The Muddy River is one of six rivers draining to Merrymeeting Bay and is part of the larger Kennebec Estuary, Maine’s most ecologically and economically significant estuary.

The property is open to the public for passive recreational uses, but is only accessible by water and so receives almost no human use.
