Smart Property

The Smart Property is a 3.2 acre property on the banks of the Androscoggin River, a few blocks from the heart of downtown Topsham. It has been the home of the Town Landing Trail since 2016, and was conveyed to BTLT for permanent protection in 2018.

The Town Landing Trail is a 0.3 mile trail that allows visitors to experience an uncommon Silver Maple Floodplain Forest, with towering silver maples, flooded ash swamps, and views of the Androscoggin River–all practically steps from the hustle and bustle of downtown Topsham and Brunswick. Diverse warblers, waterfowl, and birds of prey can be seen here, and quick-eyed visitors may spot Atlantic sturgeon leaping out of the Androscoggin during their spring migration upstream.
