Did you know that BTLT has focused on conserving the undeveloped shoreline of the Cathance River in Topsham for nearly three decades?
In that time, we have conserved more than 1,100 acres of vital habitat including 42,000 feet of river frontage.
The Hideaway Farm/Sczymecki property will add an additional 18 acres and 1,000 feet of shoreline along the Cathance River!
Conservation of this parcel will:
- Enhance existing efforts in this important focus area, increasing the forested buffer and associated water quality protection for the Cathance River and Merrymeeting Bay.
- Allow for a future public trail connecting to the Robert Williams Preserve.
- Provide a nice spot for pulling up a canoe or kayak and accessing the property from the river.
BTLT has entered into a Purchase & Sale Agreement with the land owner, John Sczymecki, and we have until June 30 to raise the necessary funds… THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN!
We are actively applying for grant funding and reaching out to individual donors to request their support, but to make this project happen we will need support from folks like YOU! If you are interested in helping conserve the Hideaway Farm/Sczymecki property please donate today!
Thank you so much for your support!
