A few weeks ago a small, dedicated crew of Land Trust staff and volunteers visited a housing development in Brunswick that over 50 low income families call home. We built raised beds, helped plant seedlings donated by local farmers, and watched young children revel in playing in the dirt. One little boy, who seemed as though he had never seen a hammer put to nails, followed around the two men who were building the raised beds, he was engaged and helpful. After about an hour he asked the volunteers “What is your job?” The answer came back, “Well, we’re retired.” To which the boy responded, “I want to be that when I grow up!”

This afternoon of bringing gardens, soil, and ideas for the future to some of the lowest income families in the region was made possible by members like you. The Brunswick- Topsham Land Trust strives to provide a diverse array of programs that serve the needs of our community, and connect everyone to this amazing place we call home.
